Ex-Lagos State governor submits nomination form
Osinbajo, Nwajiuba, Bakare, Amosun return forms
everything Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu yesterday submitted his presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms with optimism of success in the primary.
The forms were submitted in the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by one-time Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir David Lawal; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola; Rep James Faleke; former House Speaker Yakubu Dogara; Senator Ganiyu Solomon; Mr. Ayodele Adewale and Aminu Dilsoman; and Abdullahi Tanko Yakassi
The forms were picked on Friday.
Osinbajo’s forms were submitted by Senators Kabiru Gaya and Muhammadu Bulkachuwa.
Speaking with reporters after the submission of the forms, Lawal expressed optimism that Tinubu would clinch the ticket.
The former SGF said: “We feel elated that today we have come to submit the winning form and we have complied with one of the major requirements of the party to contest for president.
Lawal dismissed insinuation that the resignation of ministers would threaten Tinubu’s ambition, insisting that the APC stalwart had what it takes to defeat all other aspirants.
He added: “We are 100 per cent prepared. We believe that even if there are one million contestants on the platform of this party, we will carry the majority of the delegates in the convention. So, the more the merrier, they are all welcome.
Pastor Bakare said he would abide by the rules governing the conduct of the APC presidential convention.
Expressing his faith in God to clinch the party’s ticket, Bakare told reporters that he had so far complied with the rules of the game, adding that the onus now lies on the party to execute other activities on its timelines.
He said: “Anyone who participates in a race must run according to the rules. We have fulfilled our side and it is now for the party to set the stage and to tell us what next. They will determine what next.
“What I know for now is that there will be screening and after screening for those who may have appeal, they will appeal.
“My chances are as bright as that of any person. I am eminently qualified either by age or experience or everything that counts in this race.
“And I trust God that I will emerge the winner.”
