PEOPLE’S PARTY
Peoples Democratic party was founded in 1998 by Dr Alex Ekweme, other founding include; Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, Sunday , Alhaji Ciroma, Alhaji Sule Lamido, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Solomon Lar etc. PDP dominated the activities of for 17 years. In 1999, the party contested for the presidential election and with Olusegun Obasanjo and as the presidential and vice president respectively. In 2003, the party also the presidential election with Olusegun Obasanjo and both retaining their position. In 2007, Umaru Musa was the presidential candidate of PDP with Goodluck Jonathan as his mate, PDP won the election. Unfortunately Umaru Musa YarAdua died in office on May 5, 2010, the vice president (Goodluck Jonathan) continue to carry out executive functions until 2012 when he was made the presidential candidate for PDP with Namadi Sambo as his running mate, the party won the election. In 2015 presidential election, the party experience it first defeat to Action Congress (APC).

1. PDP controls and dominate the political activities of Nigeria for 17 years 2. The party promoted political consciousness 3. PDP promoted unity and reduce inequality 4. The party reduce the possibility of military incursion into Nigerian politics 5. The party was credited for reducing regional crises 6. PDP was the most popular party in Nigeria 7. The party implemented the federal character principle and zoning formula in of political power 8. Effort were made to looted public money 9. The party also established to fight e.g The Independent Corrupt of Commission (ICPC) and Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC)
