Ondo farmers get IFAD LIFE-ND flood victims support – Peoples Gazette – Pegars News

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), in conjunction with the Ondo State authorities, has distributed farm inputs as palliatives to 50 farmers affected by flood in the state.

Distributing the objects on Thursday in Akure, Olayato Aribo, the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, stated that the farmers have been completely assessed and chosen for the gesture.

Mr Aribo stated that IFAD offered 5,000 day old chicks, 280 luggage of broiler starter, 280 luggage of fish feeds of varied sizes and 84 luggage of NPK 15:15:15 fertiliser for distribution to the beneficiaries.

He said that the distribution was to guarantee that the beneficiaries did not lose curiosity in their varied chosen farming enterprises.

The commissioner, who appreciated IFAD, added that the inputs would additionally encourage meals safety and employment era.

Mr Aribo prolonged appreciation to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for his magnanimity and braveness in support of the Amotekun Security Corps.

According to him, the safety outfit has made it attainable for farmers in the state to be ready to go about their actions on their farms with out molestation.

He urged the beneficiaries to make considered use of the inputs so that the effort of the donor would be handsomely rewarded.

Olawale Ademola, the State Coordinator of the IFAD/LIFE-ND Project, stated that some beneficiaries of the mission have been affected by flood some months again throughout the state and was reported to IFAD.

“IFAD determined to assist them so that they would not lose curiosity in their farming. We had to compile the checklist. These are beneficiaries of IFAD-funded LIFE-ND.

“Some are for fisheries, some for poultry enterprise and some for cassava. So, at present IFAD has procured inputs by way of the mission referred to as Livelihood Improvements Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).

“Today, we have bags of fertilisers, fish and poultry feeds, and 5,000 day-old chicks to be given to the flood victims of this project,” he stated.

Also, Bunmi Ogunleye, the IFAD Representative, appreciated the state authorities for creating an enabling surroundings for the IFAD/LIFE-ND Project to be profitable in the state.

Mr Ogunleye famous that the IFAD offered the palliatives to deliver the flood victims, who have been beneficiaries of IFAD/LIFE-ND Project to their tracks once more.

He tasked the beneficiaries not to promote the palliatives but use them as anticipated for the advantages of enhancing their lives and rural transformation.

Lauding the gesture, Samuel Tinubu and Blessing Alama, the beneficiaries, stated that the palliatives have been a shock to them.

They promised to reciprocate in good measure by not failing the donor.
