Mr Olusegun Onilude, the Chairman of Local Government, on Thursday, condemned the recent clashes and killings by cult groups in Badagry.

The News of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on May 17 a clash between cult groups in Adaripon Ipage Compound, Badagry, Lagos State, had led to the death of a 36-year-old man.

Reacting, a by his Chief of , Mr Sewedo Samuel, said Onilude implored security agencies, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to work in to nip in the bud.

“It is what the country is turning to. I am sure you will agree with me that insecurity is not solely a Badagry .

“Badagry is a known for and I want to appeal to parents and guardians to warn their wards to desist from cultism,” he said.

He urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to maintain law, peace and order in the council.

The Chairman said the of the meeting was to deliberate and collaborative efforts to forestall the breakdown of law and order in Badagry, especially during and after the primaries of various political parties.

He said the meeting was also to deliberate on the security of lives and property of residents of Badagry and its environs.

“The meeting was attended by traditional rulers, representatives of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air , Department of State Security, Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil (NSCDC).

“Others are officials from Correctional , Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),” he said.
