Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro said he was thrilled with the hospitality accorded him at Ilorin when he went to watch Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) tie between Kwara United and Sunshine Stars.
The newly engaged national team manager is expected to integrate a sizeable number of players from the domestic league into the Super Eagles as part of his contract and Ilorin was his first port of call in what is expected to be a regular visits to league centres across the country.
“It was a pleasure to meet and discuss Nigerian football with representatives from Kwara United and Sunshine Stars yesterday,” the 62-year-old former Venezuela coach noted via his verified Twitter handle @JosePeseiro. “Thank you all for your warm welcome and cordiality.”
Meanwhile, Kwara United striker Alao Dabani said Peseiro presence in Ilorin on Sunday was a pleasant surprise, adding it would spur on players in the local league to give their best.
“ It was good to see him(Peseiro) ,” the 18-year-old striker told Lagos based Sports Radio, Brila FM.“There is something he wanted to see by coming to Ilorin; we had to show what we have to do and I think everybody did his best.”
