The Nigerian authorities has introduced a letter of approval to the Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transport Workers of Nigeria (AUATWON).
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige made the presentation on Tuesday in Abuja.
The new union contains all app-primarily based transport employees, on-line transport providers, and e-hailing drivers and operators.
Ngige famous that the registration was a milestone in labour administration, significantly in the trade union providers phase.
The minister stated the casual sector, which constitutes the largest inhabitants of employees, is being formalised throughout the world.
“Today, we are breaking new ground with those who are employing themselves and from there, employing others”, he stated.
AUTWON utilized for registration on April 27, 2021 to cater for self-employed individuals in the subject of IT-primarily based transportation providers.
