Army General, six others feared dead in Taraba crisis

Seven military officers, including a Commanding , have been after a clash between the Kuteb and Fulani in Takum local area of Taraba.

A of Takum confided the clash occurred on when suspect Fulani militia renewed attacks on about 15 communities.

“Before 6:30am, they (attackers) were in Tati community in Takum. The first casualty was a mobile man who was shot dead and his gun taken away. Another mobile police man escaped,” the said.

According to him, he alerted the military, who mobilised their men on for a - to the communities.

“The soldiers engaged the attackers. Two destroyed motorcycles were recovered without their while the soldiers said they did not see their CO. They came out of the bush around 5pm. They came out with dead bodies,” he .

He also claimed there was a phone with one of the attackers who claimed they have killed six soldiers and the recovered motorcycles and the CO’s car may be that.

According to him, the situation in Takum is tense though were going about their normal activities.

Taraba police spokesperson Abdullahi confirmed six soldiers and the Commanding Officer were killed in the clash.
