Police investigate abduction of policewoman in Enugu

A policewoman was still missing three days after her abduction by gunmen who attacked Umulokpa Police Division in Uzouwani local government area of Enugu State, it was said yesterday.

The attack came less than 24 hours after operatives repelled an assault on Aguobu Owa police station in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state, which left an operative hospitalised.

At Umulokpa, it was gathered that patrol vehicles and other items were vandalised while suspects were released from the cells.

Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe in a statement at the weekend said the female operative was yet to be seen since the Saturday evening attack.

Ndukwe said Commissioner of police, Abubakar Lawal yesterday visited the scene, where he ordered the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to find the missing woman and arrest the attackers.

The statement said, “The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, has ordered the State CID and tactical teams of the Command to intensify ongoing investigative efforts to locate a missing female personnel and fish out the yet-to-be identified hoodlums, who in their numbers attacked and vandalised vehicles and other items at Umulokpa Police Divisional Headquarters in Uzo-Uwani LGA, in the evening hours of 09/10/2021.”
