Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has directed that security operatives be redeployed to areas affected by bandit activities.
Matawalle stated this when he visited the IDPs camp at Unguwar Danbaba in Tsunami area of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday.
The Governor said he was saddened and disturbed by the resurgence of banditry activities that resulted in having an IDP Camp in Gusau, the state capital.
Sympathising with the Internally Displaced Persons who are mostly from Rijiya Village of Gusau Local Government area of the state, the governor directed for the redeployment of more security personnel to the area to ensure that normalcy returns before the victims can be allowed to return to their homes.
Matawalle assured them of his administration’s continued protection of lives and property of the citizens in the state.
He said “Although the present administration inherited the security problem in the state but with the support and cooperation of the people, the situation has reduced to a minimal level,” he added.
The governor appealed to the people of the state to support the government in the provision of intelligence and timely information to security agencies in order to bring an end to the security challenges facing the state.
Matawalle commended the Ministry for Humanitarian and Disaster Management for the prompt action taken in the provision of food items, medications and bedding materials to the IDP camp.
Speaking earlier, one of the IDPs’ leaders, Mallam Muhammadu Shehu, expressed their happiness over the governor’s visit and requested for redeployment of more security personnel to the affected communities to enable them return to their respective communities.
In the governor’s entourage were Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Bala Bello Maru, Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, Chief of Staff Government House, Col Bala Mande (rtd), Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Dr Bashir Mohammed Maru, PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani Maikatako, Heads of Security agencies in the state, Commissioners and Senior government officials among others.
